DiSCOVERY Project Of The Week - Sporadic

It is an irregular occurrence that a body of work presents itself to us organically, and completely out of the blue. This week, this absolutely was the case. 'Sporadic' by 'Oscar #Worldpeace' came to us in the evening time, touched us, and provided a shining light on our future days. As a result, 'Sporadic' sits at the top of the DiSCOVERY 'Project Of The Week' tree.

'Sporadic' was released in May 2020, coming after 3 years of project inactivity for Oscar #Worldpeace. This is a substantial break for an artist who is focused on submerging themselves into the depths of fans' listening pools. Perhaps this 3-year-long project hiatus was the intuitive inspiration behind the album title - 'Sporadic'.

The 'Sporadic' body of work itself consists of 9, goal scoring tracks, and enclosed are some high profile collaborations. Oscar #Worldpeace's astoundingly strong, yet under-appreciated ability is clearly recognised by those who's opinions are relevant. The likes of 'KunckS', 'Sam Wise', and most impressively 'The Streets' all feature as part of the marvellous 'Sporadic' project.

The echelon of the collaborative artists who bless 'Sporadic' with their equally excellent, and unique styles, is not the only element of the phenomenal project that will take listeners by surprise; Oscar #Worldpeace's personal performance surpasses the definition of any superlative in our vocabulary. From start to finish, Oscar #Worldpeace is musically levitating in a universe of his own.

Although rap music can be incredible without it holding authoritative conscious value, more often than not, rhymes without meaning have a sell-by-date, and will become stale ahead of the artist's intended schedule. Throughout the extent of 'Sporadic', Oscar #Worldpeace blends, and binds obsessively weighed, meaningful musical ingredients; this creates a sublimely tasting piece of art, that will prove timeless as the years go by.

This cocktail of consciousness is apparent from the 'Sporadic' get-go, but debatably most evident when listening to the scene-setting, opening track - 'Shine', which is named after Oscar #Worldpeace's child, who features as a focal point on the album artwork. Oscar #Worldpeace pours his soul out during the 2 minute, and 22 second hymn, expressing his giant-sized levels of gratitude for the birth of his child. Some principally poignant phrases are listed below for your perusal:

  • "Waited my whole lifetime for this, found a whole new reason I'll live"

  • "So glad that you came at a time like this, never got it right, this time I did, got a whole new reason I'll live"

  • "You and your mum saved my life, suicide, should I take my life? But now I've got yours in mine"

  • "They say nothings perfect, right? But you came at a perfect time"

Traditionally, we tend to type out our individual track thoughts, and this week is no different. Therefore, as a rudder steering you in the right, yet subjective direction, please see our song ratings below:

Track Of The Project - 'Shine'

As touched upon earlier in our article, the reason 'Shine' blinds its competition to claim the DiSCOVERY 'Track Of The Project', is because of its mammoth meaning, which magnetises listener's ears, and most importantly, hearts.

The translucent explanation that Oscar #Worldpeace's child saved his life from a tragic, self-inflicted death is incredible, and will resonate with anyone, regardless of their circumstance. As stressed in previous articles, and 'INTERViEWS', relatability is paramount in rap music. Therefore, 'Shine' is the rightful 'Track Of The Project' crown bearer.

Thank you to everyone who has gotten this far through this week's DiSCOVERY 'Project Of The Week' write-up - we appreciate you. Our next article will be published on Friday, so do keep an eye out.
