DiSCOVERY Project Of The Week - The Last Train to Trapan

To commence the DiSCOVERY week, we are pleased to present Manchester based vocalist - 'Just Banco' with the 'Project Of The Week' accolade, which is credited to his highly unique and thoroughly immersive debut, 8 track mixtape - 'The Last Train to Trapan'.

Released in December 2018, 'The Last Train to Trapan' showcases a seamless fusion of R&B, Rap, and Grime genres, which come together to create Just Banco's self branded music division - 'Trapanese'.

Generally speaking, when it comes to fresh, innovative musical motives, it often takes listeners a healthy amount of time to digest, and become accustomed to the new sounds on the menu, however, in Just Banco's case, 'Trapanese' was immediately well received and before long, listeners were coming back ravenous for seconds.

As a result of appetites for Just Banco's new sound being so large, his addictive 'Trapanese' wave washed up on Spotify's shores, where it spent consecutive months populating the 'Discovery Weekly' playlist. Just Banco also received strong airtime on BBC 1Xtra and was selected by 'DJ Semtex' to feature in his '5 Tracks You Must Hear'. For an Artist's work to accomplish so much whilst very much in its infancy, is incredible, and rarely heard of.

Replicating what many successful musicians who surf in the same waters have done, Just Banco saw the opportunity to ride the noise within the industry he had created, and released multiple videos exclusively to SBTV and GRM Daily, which today all have in excess of 100,000 views. All of this was accomplished before the strong interest in Just Banco came crashing down and he was back to square one, paddling in calm waters with no audience to listen to his vocals.

Whilst 'The Last Train to Trapan' is just 8 tracks long and requires a mere 25 minute investment of time to listen to from back to front, an investment which is guaranteed yield a strong return in the form of endless enjoyable plays, we are, as always, keen to provide our track ratings below:

Track Of The Project - 'Can't Stay'

As you can see, it is a marginal competition between 3 of the above tracks for 'Track Of The Project' winner in: 'Missing', 'Lad', and 'Can't Stay', however, the latter claims top spot on the song podium. To be transparent, we could've allocated any of the incredible mentioned songs to be the victor, it just so happens 'Can't Stay' is the lengthiest of the three, and therefore gives listeners that little bit extra. For this reason alone, 'Can't Stay' wears the crown on this occasion.

As stressed, Just Banco's sound is immersive, addictive, and most importantly, highly unique. Authenticity within the music industry can be received in one of two ways, it can simply be loved, or hated. With this thin, cut-throat listeners' verdict threshold in mind, it makes Just Banco's decision to penetrate the market with an unheard-of genre, and succeed with it even more admirable.

At DiSCOVERY, we honour, respect, and promote risk takers who are striving to pave their own way to success. Just Banco fits this mould without friction and we are proud to name his mixtape 'The Last Train to Trapan' the 3rd ever DiSCOVERY 'Project Of The Week'.

If you enjoyed 'The Last Train to Trapan' we strongly suggest that you check out the below, more recent Just Banco releases:
